E.ON Benelux selects XXS as agency for brand communication
Rotterdam/Eindhoven, 27 augustus 2007 - E.ON Benelux, part of the international energy company E.ON AG, selected XXS from Amsterdam as its new brand communication agency. XXS will help E.ON to further strengthen its brand awareness in the Netherlands and to increase the market share in the consumer market. E.ON has been active in the Netherlands since 2000. The acquisition of NRE in 2005 and a brand introduction campaign in 2006 launched the approach of the Dutch consumer market.
The introduction campaign was the kick-off for the execution of an ambitious growth plan. “We want to be a major player in the Dutch energy market. Our market introduction and rebranding were very successful. Our focus is now to increase the number of customers in the residential market. This requires a different, very challenging communication strategy”, says Odila Sibrijns, manager Marketing & Branding. “During the past period we introduced our E.ON brand values and made our first – very successful – steps into the consumer market. We are now in a phase where consumers need to be approached very directly with a product and service proposition that seamlessly connects to our brand values. There you need specific qualities. After an extensive process we concluded that XXS was the right party for us. We selected XXS because their presented strategy proposal and communication concept was the most convincing”.
XXS and E.ON use the summer period to work out the communication strategy and expect to launch the campaign by the end of September.
E.ON Benelux generates and supplies electricity, gas and heat to both residential and business customers in the Netherlands. In Belgium E.ON Benelux holds a strong position in the business market. E.ON Benelux was founded in 1941 and has been a part of E.ON AG since 2000. The power stations with an overall generation capacity of 1,850 MW are located in Zuid-Holland, the economic artery of the Netherlands. Moreover, E.ON Benelux will build a new power station with a total capacity of 1.100 MW at the existing Maasvlakte location. E.ON Benelux has over 700 staff and offices in both Rotterdam and Eindhoven.
